At Danegrove Primary School, we believe that every individual within our school community deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic.

We are committed to creating a school environment that celebrates , and champions equality for all, by striving to eliminate discrimination, prejudice, and harassment in all aspects of school life. We actively promote a collaborative partnership with parents, carers, and the wider community to reinforce our shared responsibility in fostering an inclusive school ethos.

We monitor our practices, policies, and procedures to identify and address any barriers to equality and encourage open feedback and reporting of incidents, ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to address any concerns promptly and effectively.

Equality in Teaching and learning

At Danegrove we provide all our pupils with the opportunity to succeed and to reach the highest level of personal achievement. We do this by:

  • ensuring equality of access for all pupils and preparing them for life in a diverse society
  • using teaching materials that reflect the diversity of the school, population and local community without stereotyping
  • having a wellbeing curriculum that encourages open discussions and the challenging of stereotypes
  • developing a love of reading through a range of authors and genres that celebrate our school community.
  • promoting attitudes and values that challenge any discriminatory behaviour or prejudice
  • providing opportunities for pupils to appreciate their own culture and celebrate the diversity of other cultures
  • seeking to involve all parents in supporting their child's education
  • utilising teaching approaches appropriate for the whole school population which are inclusive, adaptable and reflective of our pupils.
