School Values

We are a British Values Based School

A Value is a principle that guides our thinking and our behaviour.

At Danegrove, every individual is valued for who they are and what they contribute to the school. Values are intended to support the personal, social and spiritual development of every pupil throughout the school.

The whole staff team, parents and pupils are involved in promoting values and recognising where others are ‘following the values’. The 12 values developed have been selected after consultation with pupils, staff, governors and parents as values which are important within the school community and which will be important throughout life.

Danegrove achieved the Quality Mark as a Values-based School award on 9th March 2016.

At Danegrove, we aim to understand, evaluate and apply our core values:Respect, Independence, Cooperation, Generosity, Freedom, Caring, Tolerance, Love, Appreciation, Unity, Responsibility and Confidence!

We actively practise Values Education and do this in many ways ..... to name but a few .... displays, engaging assemblies, whole school value projects, book studies and of course Danegrove’s six core rules for our positive learning environment.

British Values:

In addition to the schools focus on these values for learning, in November 2014 the Department for Education published guidance on promoting British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. All schools have a duty to ‘actively promote’ the fundamental British values of:

  • The rule of law

  • Individual liberty

  • Mutual respect

  • Tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith

At Danegrove, we embed these values, by providing our children with an inclusive and cross curricular based curriculum which is fun and educational, that effectively promotes all four values, holding basic morals at the heart of all that we do. Thus creating a values driven school that achieves positive results for our pupils and for the wider community.

At Danegrove Primary School we believe that a happy child is a successful one. We are committed to providing a safe and stimulating environment for children to learn, where all are valued for their achievements, no matter how large or small. Every child matters and we encourage all of them to enjoy their learning, achieve their potential and become independent life-long learners.

We believe that education should be inclusive providing equal opportunities for all children. That is why we change the school to fit the children, not change the child to fit in the school! Danegrove strives to promote positive links with the wider community, therefore preparing pupils for their future in the wider world.
